Instrument data fields that import from Vectorworks Spotlight includes: Device Type, Instrument Type, Wattage, Purpose, Position, Unit Number, Color, Dimmer, Channel, Address, Universe, U-Address, Gobo 1, Circuit Number which imports into the notes field on all spreadsheets and used in the Label Maker, Circuit Name which imports into the notes field on all spreadsheets and used in the Label Maker, Num Channels, Frame Size, and Focus which imports into the Focus Charts tab.

From Vectorworks Spotlight
From Vectorworks Spotlight click File -> Export Data -> Export Instrument Data.
From the Instrument Data Window select ALL,
Check the checkbox for Export field names as first record.
Make sure that the checkbox for Export in Lightwright 4 format is not checked.
Then click on the EXPORT button to save it to your computer.
Selecting the All button is the easiest way to get your Vectorworks data into The DMX Chart. When your data is imported, The DMX Chart will only pick from the data fields it needs which include: Device Type, Instrument Type, Wattage, Purpose, Position, Unit Number, Color, Dimmer, Channel, Address, Universe, U-Address, Gobo 1, Circuit Number, Circuit Name, Num Channels, Frame Size, and Focus.
From The DMX Chart
From The DMX Chart create a new DMX Chart
From the Input Tab select Import Data
Choose the file you wish to import from your computer by clicking on the Choose File button.
Click on the green Import button.
The DMX Chart will tell you how many instruments it successfully imported, and it will tell you how many failed to import. It will also give you the opportunity to download a csv file of the failed instruments which will allow you to import that csv file into any spreadsheet program. The csv file will also contain the reason why each instrument failed to import into The DMX Chart. You can either correct the problems inside the spreadsheet, then re-import the corrected file, or you can make your corrections in Vectorworks and try the import again.

The DMX Chart recognizes two different types of fixtures and calls them DMX Controlled Fixture Types like your movers and your scrollers, and Conventional Fixture Types like a par can.
How The DMX Chart handles the data.
The import works better from an empty chart for your first Vectorworks import.
The exported file should contain the following fields: 'Device Type', 'Instrument Type', 'Position', 'Unit Number', 'Num Channels' and either 'Dimmer' or 'Universe' and 'U Address'. It may also contain the fields 'Wattage', 'Purpose', 'Color', 'Channel', 'Address', 'Circuit Number', 'Circuit Name', 'Frame Size', 'Gobo 1' and 'Focus'.
The DMX Charts supports the following instrument types: 'Light', 'Moving Light', 'Other', 'Accessory' and 'Static Accessory'.
The instruments will be imported into a show named 'Vectorworks', which can be renamed after importing. Show names can be edited from the Show name drop down menu inside the DMX Controlled & Conventional data box on the Input Tab, by right mouse clicking on the name.
The 'Dimmer Specs' value will be set to 'Dimmer' for each imported instrument.
The field 'Position' must be answered. If a Position with that name already exists in your DMX Chart, it will be used, otherwise it will be added inside a category named 'Vectorworks'.
The field 'Unit Number' must be answered.
You can either specify a 'Dimmer' or a 'Universe' and 'U Address'. If all three fields are present then the 'Universe' and 'U Address' will be used.
The field 'Instrument Type' must be answered. If a DMX Controlled Fixture Type with that name already exists in your DMX Chart, it will be used, otherwise it will be added inside a category named 'Vectorworks'.
'Circuit number' and 'Circuit name' will be imported to the 'Notes' field.
The following applies to DMX Controlled Fixture Types:
'Num Channels' should be answered correctly with a positive integer.
If 'Gobo 1' is answered, it needs to contain the Gobo name. If a 'Custom Gobo in moving light' with the same name already exists in your DMX Chart, it will be used, otherwise it will be added to your DMX Chart.
The following applies to Conventional Fixture Types:
Multiple conventional gel colors for a single fixture type need to be separated by commas. For example: L201+R132,R89 Up to six colors are supported per fixture type. These colors may contain up to six gel colors each, which should be separated by + signs. The import tool will search for the gel colors in your DMX Chart first and block the name in the appropriate color background if it finds the gel color, otherwise the gel colors will be added with a black background color.
Each fixture type supports up to six accessories, which will be searched for in your DMX Chart, and if they do not exist they will be added to a category named 'Vectorworks'.
If you specify a 'Gobo 1', it will be searched for in your DMX Chart's Conventional Gobos, and if it doesn't exist it will be added to a category named 'Vectorworks'.
Once your import is complete:
All data fields that were defaulted during the import process, (for example: the dimmer specs, category names, and show names) can be edited inside The DMX Chart.
